Either way, I was busy!  Very, very busy!  And very happy with my success!  I was having a blast!  I came up with systems of my own, tweaked them, tested them and made even more money!

Complete and Unedited Review Posted Online To The "Visions" Magic Board: A Review of Eric Paul’s Marketing Course-“The System Training Sessions:” After I wrote my last article about the terrible quality of most of the magic marketing courses that are out there, several of my readers pointed out that I didn’t mention Eric Paul’s birthday party marketing program.  They weren’t letting me know because Eric Paul’s Course fell into the poor quality side, but because his course was so awesome.  I owned Eric’s birthday party course from years earlier and found it to be the best guide on how to make a career in the birthday party market.  I still recommend it and you can get it at:  http://www.moremoneywithmagic.com/course.htm Eric has not been idle these last few years.  He has been working hard to get out of the birthday party market.  It isn’t that he doesn’t like performing for birthday parties, it is because he wanted to spend more time with his family instead of being “with someone else’s children” every weekend.  I personally wanted to get out of that market because I was getting sick of lugging all of the equipment around. Eric decided to design his business in a way that would not interfere with his core values.  Being a self-proclaimed marketing nut he created what he calls the “system” to help him do the shows he wants to do and “not the shows I have to do.” His new course is not for the beginner.  In fact, if you are just starting out I would suggest that you buy Jim Snack’s Success in Magic Course first.  Eric’s course was put together for magicians who have a basic knowledge of marketing and direct mail.  Eric also recommends that you get Dave Dee’s marketing course or Dan Kennedy’s Magnetic Marketing so that you get a firm foundation of direct mail principles. On Wednesday, September 28th, Eric offered four complete training sessions detailing his entire system for making money on a teleconference to 27 other magicians. The best part of the course is how Eric explains how he got his business to run automatically.  He has several repeat customers that come back year after year and he is constantly upgrading services and products to these customers.  He even gives some killer advice on how to book many shows a year in advance.  How cool would it be to start the New Year not worried about how you are going to make ends meet?  You already have several shows booked before the year actually begins! My hat goes off to Eric for admitting that his program is not a get rich quick scheme.  He admits that it will take work and some creative energy to apply his system into your marketing and goals.  I despise marketing programs that claim they are made for everybody.  There is no such thing as a one size fits all marketing system. I also like the advice and information Eric gives about mailing lists.  He tells us ways to take care of our lists and to update them often.  He gives several ways to “caress” our list and to use it for maximum effectiveness.  Make sure you pay attention to how Eric handles selling from the stage or back of the room sales.  He has the same attitude I have always had about it.  I always felt like a cheap pitchman and huckster if I sold from the stage and drove people to my tables.  Eric gives some great advice on how to get around those feelings and how to make your back of the room sales more profitable. With this kit you get 4 discs that have the calls on them as heard by those lucky 27 entertainers who heard them the first time.  He has also transcribed the teleconferences in a notebook for easy references.  Instead of just transcribing the talks and leaving it at that, Eric took some time to clarify some things and to add some items of interest.  Like many marketing course he has several “free” reports that range from indispensable to not so hot.  But unlike a lot of courses from his peers, the good outweighs the bad in the “free” report section.  So many marketing courses give you “hundreds of thousands of dollars of Free Reports” that are just filler and cheap enticements to buy.  I personally like his Success in Magic Newsletter that are on back issues on one of the CD’s.  There’s a lot of great stuff in there! He has also given the course several additional CD’s that have his personal marketing materials on them.  These will come in handy, as they are god examples on how a full-time pro gets work through the power of words and pictures.  Being a visual person, I also liked his examples of marketing flowcharts.  I now use flow charts in each of my businesses because it helps me visualize where each customer fits into my marketing plans. I really loved this program.  It was better than his first program (which was a hard feat to top) and much more designed for the working professional.  I know I will make a lot more money this year because of using Eric’s advice!  I highly recommend this course.  You can check it out at: http://www.moremoneywithmagic.com Eric Paul’s “System Training Sessions” in a blink: Material:  10 Eric’s System is laid out in four written modules that were based on the phone seminar he had held to let a few select magicians know of his system.  Eric gets an extra credit for not just having a verbatim transcript of his calls.  He actually clarified and cleaned up the written text to read like a written text.  This may seem like a small thing but it shows how much care and though Eric put into his system. Quality: 9 The quality of the material is high but I had to take off some points for some of the extra reports being too typical of what passes for fillers in these magic courses.  Things like the “Millionaire’s Rolodex,” and a copy of the book, “As a Man Thinketh,” seems too much like a last minute tag on then a true Free report or extra.  That is not to say that either of those things does not have something useful on it.  It just seemed to me that the kit was so strong that it didn’t need some of the “enticements.” Presentation:  9 Eric presented his material well.  I liked his infectious laugh and enthusiasm for the material. Originality:  9 While much of the material is from other marketing course, what makes Eric’s course so original is his personal twists, concepts, additions and personal thought that went into creating this system.  Eric. A self-proclaimed marketing fanatic, truly stands on the shoulders on giants.  With his new course he is at a point where he can step down from those shoulders and stand side by side with the best marketers (magic or otherwise) in the business.
